Erik Binder

The "Baubach-Sushi-Ikebana" installation:

The title is inspired by popular European DIY (do it yourself) superstores such as Hornbach, Bauhaus, or Baumax (which sell supplies for home improvement and gardening),in association with visually similar Japanese foods and paraphrased principles of Ikebana art applied during the process of creation.

With simple cuts and modification of cheap insulating materials the artist creates soft, fragile, and absurd sushikebana diagrams of everyday situations and metaphors of relations.

The food terminology intends to offer visitors a DIY recipe to cook this spiritual art "meal" themselves.
Erik Binder displays baubachsushikebanas in urban spaces as pieces of street-art as well as in established exhibition spaces.
